Chapter 5

Professions

Craft. Create. Shape the world.

⚒

A Profession is not a side crafting menu. At Level 5, choosing a Profession means building a character around expertise and becoming part of the economy, knowledge network, and everyday life of Katarra.

Choose a Craft

Ten established professions

Alchemist

Transforms gathered ingredients into remedies, compounds, reagents, and volatile discoveries.

Artificer

Builds intricate devices and combines practical craft with unusual mechanisms and materials.

Blacksmith

Forges, repairs, and refines weapons, armor, tools, and enduring works of metal.

Cook

Turns provisions into sustaining meals, memorable feasts, and preparations fit for the road.

Jeweler

Cuts precious stones and shapes fine metals into objects of beauty, status, and purpose.

Merchant

Connects distant markets through appraisal, negotiation, supply, and a trusted reputation.

Miner

Reads the earth and extracts the ores, gems, stone, and hidden materials others depend upon.

Scholar

Preserves knowledge, studies mysteries, and turns careful research into practical understanding.

Survivalist

Masters shelter, foraging, tracking, and the hard-won knowledge required beyond safe roads.

Wayfinder

Charts routes, reads terrain, and guides travelers through places where ordinary maps fail.

A Life of Mastery

Profession mastery and Legacy abilities

Profession progression

Each Profession advances through its own novice, established, and master identity rather than copying Adventurer ranks.

Profession Renown

Discovery, contracts, experimentation, sales, supply, knowledge, and other non-combat accomplishments build professional standing.

Legacy specialization

Profession characters can awaken profession-specific Legacy effects that alter how they practice their craft rather than granting ordinary Adventurer combat powers.

No Profession Convergence

Professions can develop Legacy combinations and specialized capabilities, but they do not use the Adventurer Convergence ritual.

Player economy

A skilled professional can become valuable because of who they are, what they know, and which Legacy-touched techniques they possess.

Knowledge endures longer than empires
